Xbox One Will Turn on Faster Than Your TV While on Standby

The Xbox One will likely turn on faster than your TV if you leave it on standby, according to Xbox director of product planning Albert Penello.

In a Reddit post, Penello said:

“From standby, it’s likely the Xbox will be on before the TV is completely powered up.”

Penello explained that the Xbox One has three states: on, off, and standby. “Standby allows “Xbox On”, quick resume, checking for updates, etc.,” he wrote. “This is the mode we’d like to see people in, obviously, so you get back to gaming or watching TV really quick.”

If you’ve pre-ordered the Xbox One, you’ll get to test this for yourself on Nov. 22.

Yay. It turns on faster than your TV but can’t even support your TV’s resolution.

“We recommend everyone keeps it in standby mode”

Really? Why? So we can turn it on faster? Or so it can still spy on us while it’s “off”

Oh, wow… Great point about the spying. Hadn’t thought of that.

Gotta admit I’m at least somewhat excited about the built-in features for the next gen consoles, especially Xbox One. For some reason, I’ve always been an Xbox guy over PS. Don’t really know why. I love the PS4 controller which I already bought just to check it out. There are going to be some awesome stuff out there for the next gen consoles.
