Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z Trailer Contains Zombie Ninjas

Tecmo Koei has released a new trailer for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z confirming an early 2014 release.

In the trailer, we see the game’s main character, whose name is Yaiba Kamikaze, swearing vengeance upon the ninja who killed him—Ryu Hayabusa. Yaiba, which is Japanese for “the blade of a sword,” is a metaphor for a really dangerous character.

Returning from the dead, the rogue ninja first has to get some practice by killing the zombies, which have overrun the planet.

The game is currently in development at Team Ninja and Spark Unlimited, blending both Eastern and Western sensibilities in its design.

Wait…so he’s a zombie ninja cyborg? Now that’s just overdoing it a bit. Probably not a day one purchase since you can’t trust Team Ninja with the Ninja Gaiden series after how unbelievably terrible NG3 was.
