Your Stupid Madden NFL 12 Cover… (PIC)

So the fans somehow managed to get marginal running back Peyton Hillis of the terrible Cleveland Browns on the cover of Madden. I would say the city of Cleveland could use a break, but the Indians are doing pretty well right now; that makes the official Hillis-graced cover of Madden, which I’m about to show you, totally offensive. How inane. Here you go.

Well, it looks nice at least. Until you remember who that person is.

“marginal running back Peyton Hillis”

First off, I’m pretty far from being a Browns fan, but dude seriously? Do you even watch football? The guy rushed for 1177 yards and 11 TD’s with a 4.4 yard average per carry and caught 61 passes for 477 yards. To say he had anything less than a very good season in 2010 is incredibly disingenuous. Learn the facts before you insult the guy, because there’s a big difference between a marginal player and a marginal team.

First off, I was kinda making a slightly disingenuous exaggeration, as I’ve been known to do from time to time for effect.

Second, he was the 11th leading rusher in the league last year, which is, by Madden cover standards for athletes who didn’t win the Super Bowl, extremely marginal, if such an idea were possible.

Ultimately, this is why I called him “marginal”: because who the cares about him outside Cleveland? Or who’s gonna be making a big deal about having him on their fantasy team this year? The answer to both questions is a resounding “no one.”
