Zero Punctuation Grapples with Smash Bros. Brawl

When a game is reviewed by The Escapist’s Yahtzee Croshaw primarily because so many of his fans requested it, you can probably already guess what his take on it is going to be. While everyone seems pretty content to lavish praise all over Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Croshaw of course manages to seek out every flaw in the game, which naturally makes for one hilarious review. He covers most of the main complaints about the game, from the fact that it really is Nintendo just pumping out another mascot-filled game to how you have to unlock half the content in the single player, even though it’s being touted as a multiplayer game. I know I myself have too often sat down with a newly purchased game and a friend only to discover that almost everything has to be unlocked in the single player (seriously, game developers, that’s a practice that needs to stop).

I’m genuinely curious how the Nintendo fans will react, and how Yahtzee fans will subsequently clash with them while trying to use words that are far too large and complicated for them to understand without the use of dictionary.com.

He gave his honest, unbiased opinion…and… well, let’s face it, that gets you in trouble on the internet

Gotta admit, starting a review off with a sigh and saying that suicide is something you’d rather do pretty much sums up an opinion on a game right there and then. The next 4 minutes just sealed it, hilariously.

This game is way over-rated. I tried to get in to it because I liked the previous SSMBs in the series but this game was just more of the same. I wonder how I liked the previous games so much when the button-mashing in Brawl is so boring.

    P.S. – The broken half-assed online doesn’t even work

I say he gave a good review… bashed one of my favorite games, but still gave a good impartial review.

Wholeheartedly agree with the reviewer. When does Nintendo come up with something NEW!?
They are still hailing Mario and his companions as masters of the universe, for god’s sake.

They have been milking the old franchises do much, it was embarrasing already when the N64 was in it’s glory days.
