I haven't heard of flamethrowing soldier but i do know of mod being made that includes a Flamethrowing SHERMAN tank:rock:
Imagine having 3 Flamethrower units on both teams now imagine the lag, not to mention how low your FPS would probably drop if you were close to one such flamethrower unit.:uhoh:
FPS lag is created by an excess of polys that your machine can't compute fast enough. Depending on how the flames are being rendered, it might not cause lag. Sprites are really cheap to compute - and most games with flamethrowers are really 'sprite-throwers'.
To make a flamethrower in BF, just make an automatic weapon that shoots flat sprites textured like flames instead of bullets.
It's in Heavy Bombardment. http://www.bf1942files.com/file.info?ID=8401 It comes with a shotgun, a knife 'bomb' spawns below B-17s, etc.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein had the ultimate flamethrower.
No offense to anyone, but the flamethrower unit described above, is in need of improvement.
Is it really that taxing on the system to have a "realistic" flame?
Flamethrowers were rarely even seen in the ETO. Pacific maps are a different story.
Speaking of Pacific maps, they need A LOT more trees and weeds. I know it would really tax PCs, but if EA gave DICE time to actually optimize the damn game, maybe we could run. These were jungles, for Christ's sake. Guadalcanal took the Marines MONTHS to cross, since the Japanese operated so much like the Vietcong (and there was so much jungle after one day they wouldn't have gone very far).
Coolcommander had a mod with a flamethrow but i dont know where it is. mod name: heavy bombardemend
the script is standard in the game, so the only thing you've got to do is making a good script
