I have downloaded one or two new skins so far and followed instructions on extracting and then installing the skins over the old .dds files in that texture folder. I even removed the texture.rfa file from the archives folder as well. When I boot up the game though I get no textures for anything at all...not even the trees...What am I doing wrong?

Please Help

Josh

Did you extract all the files in the texture rfa to your battlefield 1942 folder? See what you did is when you removed the texture rfa file your game has no textures or anything to read from. Extract all the files from the texture rfa to your bf1942 folder. you should have a folder called texture along with your music and multiplayer among other folders. Extract the skins using the rfa extractor to that new texture folder and it should work for you.

My game is installed in

C:\Games\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942

I first used the RFA extractor and extracted the texture.rfa to my 1942 directory so that it now looks like this...

Admintool Archives Cache Ereg Logs Movies MultiplayerServers Music Screenshots Settings TEXTURE <------ the new one

Then i took the dds files in the new skins zip and overrode the ones in the texture folder...Then I renamed the texture.rfa file in my archives folder to TESTURE.RFA

still didnt work..when I boot up the game it gives me no textures for anything at all!! This is nuts..because it is so easy but not working..

Please Help..

Thanks

That is your problem, since its a rfa file it will still load it. Rename it to texture.old.
