[color=darkblue]OK, I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I have a mod idea that was inspired by a dream I had :rolleyes: (actually, I had the idea a year ago, but never had the right game for it). You're out in space, each team has a large ship (cruiser, starbase, whatever), and each class plays an important role.
1.Pilot: Pilot's have a choice of either piloting the large ship (how many pilots required for the large one I don't know), or they can choose smaller ships in the hangar. Only pilots can use these.
2.gunner: These guys can pilot the turrets stationed on the sides of the large ship. They can only use turrets.
3.assult: These guys have assault guns (most likely lasers) and oxygen suits. They have the capability to board the enemy ship via holes blasted in the hull (right now I'm thinkin' the holes will be the spots where turrets were blown apart), but have limited oxygen once outside the ship (so people can't get hopelessly lost in space till the end of the match). Maybe ther will be APC's for ensured arrival. Assaults can also act as defenders against other assaults. They can't pilot or control anything else (maybe the APC).
4.engineer: These guys have the same capabilities as the original engineers, except that I don't know how we'll initialize the repair process, it would be kind of boring just standing anywhere repairing. They can also respawn destroyed turrets.
5.??? medic possibly or some other class.
I also don't know if we would have all "clans" humans or not (preferrably each has it's own race). I'm also considerring AI support, since all servers start small. Maybe they could man the turrets. Sadly though, I have ABSOLUTELY no modding skills.

Due to their explosive, Engineers are capable of entering enemy ships. But since the explosives are so heavy, they only have half the oxygen assaults have, so the only way they would make it to the enemy is via transport or the large ships were up against each other.
Another possibility is that there would be a freighter or two that deliver credits (tickets in other words). Once destroyed, a new one is constructed, taking ### seconds to produce. The freighters should, if possible, be NPC's, but if not, player controlled.[/color]

sorry to burst your bubble man, but get real.
no offence intended man, i like space and i'd love to see a space mod for BF1942... BUT have you even thought this through enough?
if you play the game and try evrything, i mean really do evrything the game has to offer you get a very good idea of what the engine is capable of doing (Which is alot)
but frankly your idea... well i can't believe im saying this since it's been said to me at other posts... but it sucks.
1. you at some point made things LIMITED, meaning the classes dont work! being limited to control a certain type of vehicle really really sucks man... who the hell is gonna be a gunner if all they can do is man a turret????
2. i am pretty sure the whole concept is so lacking in detail that it cannot be done, BF1942 has a little something called GRAVITY... and uses a rather simple system for height and so on... it can't be done.

It's a very interesting idea, that just needs the details worked out. Not a bad Idea, though I think it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible to implement into Bf1942.
