Hello. I'm new to modding but I have some ideas to add to the realism of this game. I just need to know a couple things.

How do you change game information? by this I mean things like, what classes carry, class names, things like that.

how do you creat or edit existing model's in the game?

Thanks a lot.

The first thing that you need to do is to get a copy of an rfa extractor. This can be found in downloads on this site(you'll also need to install microsofts .net framework for this app to run). To touch on the next part, it completely depends on what version of battlefield your running, 1.1 and lower differ from 1.2. (I'll assume you have 1.2) The easiest way, in my opinion, to extract everything is to create a folder called temp or extracted rfa files in your battlefield root. Then if you look in battlefield\mods\bf1942\archives\ there are several rfa files. Some contain .con files(text templates that create vehicles/weapons etc... edit with notepad) Others have .dds textures (can be imported into photoshop/3d studio max 4 with plugins or directly into 3d studio max 5 plugins can fe found in downloads section) There are also 3d mesh files which can be created using 3d studio max and a tool set for 3d studio max created by rexman at http://rex3d.com/bf/ There are also sound files (.wavs) and may be other files, can't remember.

Most vehicles/weapons are in objects things like loading screens, flags, etc are in menu. Just extract them all and look around. I dont believe there is an all inclusive list.

For editing .con files try this link for a description.

If you need help with a specific vehicle/weapon, feel free to ask. Mostly it just takes a lot of playing and reading before things will actually start to work. (at least now there are faqs to read through unlike when the game first came out).
