Can some one please tell me how to mod a gun? I spend a lot of time as an engineer, and the cyclic rate for the Engineer's bolt action rifle is just to slow! ! ! I spend a lot of time at the range, all of my bench guns are bolt action. I can sure rack the bold much faster than in the game, and be on target!

Guessing has something to do with CON files? I know nothing about these files.

Nicely done tutoroial, but I don't see an "Objects" folder anywhere in my BF1942 directory?

F:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods = bf1942 folder

F:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942 contains:

Archives, Logs, Movies, Music, Settings.

All the .con files appear to be under the Settings folder, and its sub-folders

You need to extract it first with this: http://www.bf1942files.com/file.info?ID=5888 Run it and then find objects.rfa then extract it to the mods/bf1942 directory. Now you can edit the con files with notepad. To test them is a different story. You need to get http://www.bf1942files.com/file.info?ID=6286. And re compress the objects folder. Put the Make RFA beta in the folder with the objects folder and run it. Then type objects ; objects ; n ; objects_0name.rfa and put it in the mods/bf1942/archives folder. They should now work, if it doesnt Reply, and I have an alternate solution.

Very helpful CC. Any idea what folder contains the rifle used by the Engineer? Game manual just calls it "standard rifle"

Do I have to extract the whole objects.rfa, or can I just do the hand/weapons? Then re-compress when done.

After extraction I see a common, and no. 4 folder. Guessing maybe its the no.4 enfield? I don't see any other folder names that would point towards a bolt action rifle.

BF manual doesn't have much in it

Expieriencing technical difficulties with RFA Maker.

All goes well...right down to the last step, says certian number of files that have been compressed, but when I open folder it's empty?

If you are going to reconvert it then you just need to extract what you are going to change. So if you only want to change the engineer rifle all you need to do is extract the HandWeapons/No4 and HandWeapons/K98.

The engineer rifle is the No.4 for the Allies and the K98 for the Axis. Whats unique about these is unlike other weapons this folder has code for 2 weapons. The No.4 is first in the objects.con then if you scroll down you will see the No.4 Sniper which is used by the scout. This is the same for the K98.

As for the Make RFA, the compression doesnt work, I forgot about that, so at the end you need to type n.

Thanks CoolCommander!

Ok new objects created for the K98 & no4. For this mod to work, can I just add an "Engineer" folder under "Mods\bf1942 with my new objects_eng in it?

About the only mod we are using so far that works, is the blood patch, I noticed it just added a folder to the above directory.
