I play alot of CFS2 and CFS3 and hang around their forums alot.
My question is this.
1) I know some BF mods use 3DS Max to make their models, specifically aircraft.
2) I know that some of the CFS2 and CFS3 aircraft are done in 3DS Max OR G-Lite, the free version of 3DSMax.
3) How hard do you think it would be to adapt a 3DS Max model from say CFS2 to be used in a BF mod?
I am assuming the models would be the same and that maybe the collision meshes and material meshes would have to be redone.
AND I WOULD NOT PURSUE THIS FURTHER WITHOUT GETTING PERMISSION TO ADAPT A PLANE FROM THE MODEL'S CREATOR. But since CFS2 is not as popular anymore I would think they might not have a problem with this. I have yet to hear back from the persons I have talked to.
I think it would be hard to get a CFS model in to BF because you would have to change the filetype. I think that cfs uses .MDL for there file type and i've not been able to find a MDL import becauses i've tried the same thing you want to do. And its not called G-Lite its Gmax.
