What are ya'll's strategies when playing against the computer or online? I mainly play against the computer because it takes me a while to find a game I can connect to. My strategy, after I play around with the computer for a while, is to use fast units - horses, and flank the enemy position. Also, sometime what I do is break my taskforce into two seperate units. One to attack as a diversion, while I bring my other units around and attack from the rear, that way the enemy cannot retreat so easily.

I usually lure the enemy into a setup using towers-lots of them-sometimes accompanied by horses and maybe a fortress. The enemy dies almost instantly and my second force is ready to assault the base with heavy artillery (catapults and the lot). Works most of the time =)

I use a similiar tactic to you Dobry. I'll have a main force of infantry and archers as the bulk of my army, and while they're marching, I'll have a large party of Light Cavalry ranging ahead and around the army to help protect it. If the army gets attacked, I'll usually use the cavalry to flank the enemy and hit them from behind.

For defence, I usually have atleast 1 wall, if not 2 or 3 to help protect my base. Each wall usually has a few towers, and gets progressivly tougher to take, because I set my walls up at choke points. Usually for the last or 2nd to last wall I'll set up a Barracks and "garrison" to help delay any invading forces long enough for me to respond properly. Sometimes I place artilery units such as Trebuchet behind some of the larger walls to help counter other trebuchet or artilery units.

For Defence? Walls, walls, walls Alaround My Base With Towers And I Put Archers In All Of Them But I Leave A Hole In The Wall At The Front Of My Base That Makes The Ai Go There Everytime And All My Towers And Castles Slaugter Them For Offense I Send 2 Squads Of Knights, paladins What Ever Heavy Calvery I Have And I Also Bring 4-10 Siege Weapons Mostly Catapults And Trebuchets To Break Thier Defense. The Only Bad Thing About I Do Is Its A Fairly Slow And If They Are Expierenced Rushers You Will Proubly Die Quickly! :(

The problem with AoE is that the AI isn't very intelligent. It usually either mass rushes you with units, or defends itself with hundreds of towers. Neither are very fun to deal with.

Hopefully, I would assume for it to be so...By the way, can you stop typing in all caps? :p It's rather obvious, with each word capitalized to prevent "shouting".

The AI's problem is that it targets bases over people as major targets. Explains why you can sometimes march past an AI enemy without getting hit.

Yes, it'll also just keep sending units into the meat gringer, hoping to wear your defenses down.

Usualy... get really rich... build walls, then make a kickass army, mainly comprised of lots of Cavalry, then i slowly expand from my base, with layers of Walls, with tons of towers inbetween. Then i sneak onto the Enemy's Sides, and totaly destroy them...
