Hi all, Forgive me if i am in the wrong room here, but totally new to all this tech stuff. I have two pc's networked together by a simple crossover network cable all works fine. I have just bought Age Of Empires II GOLD Edition, and i was wondering if somebody out there could explain in simple terms how do i setup this to be able to play against my daughter across our home crossover network. Waiting to hear from your knowledgable people out there. Many thanks Roly Mole

If the connection works fine, just try installing the game on both computers, and then trying to create a room in the Multiplayer part, then get the other person to select Local(LAN) TCP/IP Connection on the connection type option, and see if the 2nd person can see and enter it. Make sure your firewalls are allowing full access and server capabilities aswell.
Hi, I have the game installed on both machines, and i have enabled it through Norton Firewall. But don't know how to set it up in the game its all double dutch to me olease help Roly Mole
Hi again, ntl is my isp, i need somebody to walk me through the game setup for multi player please Roly mole
For your home network, you should just need to go into Multiplayer, and hit "Create/Host Game" or whatever it's called. Then the other player can go into Multiplayer and Join Game, with Local(LAN) TCP/IP Connection.
I don't have AoE2 on the computer, so I'm trying to remember the exact thing.
