When trying to install Age of Empires III The War Chiefs I get the following error every time I try to install it. Age of Empires III and Asian Dynasties is working fine. 380105_2353199481083_1583062877_2359368_1311997790_n.jpg

Your .ini config file could very well be corrupted. Which Windows version are you using: Vista or 7? In either case, you may need to dowload and install ALL updates, then restart your computer. Also, you may need to run the game in compatibility mode for XP. That is because it is a 32-bit game, but Vista and 7 are 64-bit systems. As such, both systems have a VERY difficult time trying to run games made for XP.

I'm running windows 7 32bit. When I click on the install button in throws the box in my previous post. So the installation doesn't even start. Is there a way to check my .ini config file and if there is, a way to fix it?

If you cannot even install in the first place, the disk itself might be the problem. Have you tried cleaning the disks? Are they scratched or damaged in any other way?

I have even tried to install it by copying the file from the cd over to the desktop. Still gives the 1158: error. Where do you think the problem lies. Is in in the setup file or where? Is there a way you can send me you setup file so I can try run it then and see if it works? Thanks for your time and effort.

My best guess is that the disk may be damaged in some way that prevents your computer from being able to read the contents. I hope that is not the cause, but if it is, the only remedy is to purchase new disks. I cannot send you anything, as it is copywrited, and the exclusive property of Ensemble Studios and Microsoft Game Studios.

Okay then. I'll just torrent a cracked version because I'm not going to pay the price again. This has happened to my first Age of Empires 3 too and I had to buy a new one. Thanks for your time.

For future reference, you should keep in mind that torrents and cracks are also illegal, and should not be discussed. :vikki:
