Hello, I have just bought AOM gold, install it and when I start the game it plays the intro movies then the screen flickers and then crashes to the desktop... I have Windows XP sp1. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

My suggestion would be to update your video card drivers. Also Ive heard that the latest patch for AOM can help with problems like yours. You can download it from AOMH or AOMFiles.

yep.

my best guess would be the video card.

Please post your system specs so that we can analyze them, and help you out in a more detailed manor

Hello, I uninstalled aom and then reinstalled. It actually crashed to an error problem which ask if I want to send the report to Microsoft.. I did. BTW who does that report go to? do they contact me regarding the error? here is something from the error log.. Appname: aomx.exe Modver: 5.1.2600.1106 appver: 4.2004.4.2300 offset: 00012901 Modname: aclayer.dll Does that help anyone? also what specs are you looking for? for the most part my system was built by me, just two weeks ago.. I downloaded the updated drivers for my video card and motherboard. Thanks, Billiam

check the microsoft website to see if ur video card is supported by AOM. I think there is a URL in the AOM manual. The specs we're specifically looking for are vid. card related. Im sure yours recent enough to run the game but just make sure. One other thing, its probably a good idea to update direct x if u can.

And as for error messages. They get sent to microsoft. I can't image they'd contact you about it. Its probably just so they can try to improve their windows software by reducing the number of errors that can occur.

No that is not correct, it is a 200GB hard drive.. Sorry first time I put sig. Well I spent a better part of an hour and half on the phone with Microsoft support, tried everything possible, we left it at to download a new video driver and I did and installed it to no avail... figures.. Well what next o great aom gaming gods? Thanks, Billiam

Try downloading directx 9.0c if you don't have it.

I have downloaded directx c, and that did not help at all. The microsoft tech said that I should go and update all drivers and then see what happens from there. That seems like a cop out from them but what the heck, I guess I will download drivers for everything and make sure everything is up to date and then they have no reason.. This is pretty disappointing though, I have had the game 1 week and have not even got passed the intro movies....lol Thanks, Billiam
