thunderfoot006;3394322Gavin is correct. The silence in here is deafening. I assumed more people would post at least a quick thank you, if for nothing else to boost their own post count. This makes me think one of two things is occuring. a) The modrators on A2 Files are so good at their job, they are transparent to the majority of the community who have little contact them. As an example of non-transparent moderators, I give you the C&C Generals Files. That site is very different from here in tone and outlook. b) People nowadays don't think good manners are a necessity. Again, look at some of the other FileFront gaming sites to see an "in yo' face" attitude which colors most everything. General rudeness seems to be a lot more unrestrained on the Web, where people look at a screen rather than someone else's face. This leads to them saying things and acting out in ways they wouldn't dare to if you were physically present when they did it. Good manners, like breathing, should be instinctive. When I started this thread, I was acting on that. I vainly assumed there were at least a few others who saw things as I do. *off topic* BTW Gavin, I never D/L any mod without posting something positive in the Comments Section immediately below it. That is why I did not start a Thank You, Modders thread.

Great posting Thunderfoot:gpost::gpost:. As for the rest of you, get in here and post a thankyou, well, you must be here if your reading this:lol::lol:. THANKYOU

I think its "A" mostly, though we do occasionally need to perform high visibility moderating to deter "B".

For instance, when Captain Shields made the mistake of annoying me by breaking (smashing?) the rules repeatedly and then skipping the ban(s) we put it place he challanged the Staff to do something more permanant about him. I think me posting the name and address of his college (and the name of his sysadmin) put the fear of... me into him. (Not to mention me pointedly asking him if he was connected to another user causing us greif from a point that was quite close to his location geographicially)

Anyway after he decided that he would rather leave quietly than face me having a chat with his colleges sysadmin I think that most people around here realised that they were considerabely less anonymous than they thought they were and we tragically lost a number of extremely rude people, which seemed to have the effect of getting quite a few people that usually didn't participate to come and get more involved.

I actually find it quite gratifying that people don't notice us because it shows how well we are doing at unobstrusively running the site. I feel that admin tools should be used only as a last resort and as such they function best as a deterrent.

Well I don't really care about the post count but thanking time to say thank you is indeed a worthwhile endeavor. Unfortunately, moderators are a lot like police officers—you don’t really notice them unless you are breaking the law; more often than not they are taken for granted; and you scream bloody murder when you need one. The moderators here are going a very awesome job—great job folks. Now, get back to work before your heads swell up.

I agree The moderators here deserve a well earned Thank You! I know the challenges of hosting and maintaining forums and websites and it can be challenging at times. KaBoom

My thanks to whomever moved my thread to here. Realized I put in the wrong area after I hit the send button. Proof yet again the A2 Moderators are pretty sharp.
