Hey, I just wanted to know something - when you play against AI Hard, does it just sit there in typical 'duh' fashion? I've only done this once, where the Borg sent out a couple of resource collectors and then did nothing..... I mean, there was no construction, no signs of life, no firing... is this Activision's definition of 'hard'? :google: :KTA:

on my armada 2 the resource collectors for all races try to mine from planets even they are not supposed to but when they get full they just stop moving making the AI have not enough resources for anything. I dont know if that could be your problem but i havent fixed it on mine yet so i am probably not that much help.

No, it sounds like you are either missing the AI files or they have been mucked up somewhere!!

Has your game been modded at all as this will effect the AI??

Are you destroying the computer's scout ship? I have found that destroying the computer's scout ship before they build a shipyard will cause the computer to sit there and do nothing.

bah, happens. know this: any level of AI is never "human". it's always based on logic: when somethin' "goes wrong" or there's "not enough" info, the computer just stops 'cos it doesn't understand. happens to me on many other games, even the most recent ones like Command & Conquer Generals.

LMAO, I would never have thought of that!!

With the way the AI works, it always looks back to see if anything needs replacing before it moves onto the next item and in this senario, if the scout has been destroyed, it will try to build another before moving onto the shipyard. Of course it can't because there is no shipyard, paradox occurs, AI concequently sits there & does nothing!!! ;)

It usually happens to me with the Klingons, modded or no. Even if you choose them a great, open space on the map wondering if that is the problem, they sit there. Their construction ships don't move. Yet, if you go over there and destroy their contruction ships, the base builds two new ones which also just sit there.

That said, the Borg also did a strange one. It was on a custom map, in an area only accessible via wormhole. Well, in true, resource-efficient style, the Borg sent both their construction ships through the worm hole. This is a large map you understand, 30,000 both ways. These two assemblers trudged across the map. They reached a planet. And stopped. They just sat there. The Borg did nothing else. I sent a spare Defiant over to 'investigate' with its pulse phasers, and the Borg sent two new ones to that exact same spot, though a wormhole and half-way across the map, which also just sat there. And that was all they did.

The Cardassians, on the otherhand, with their unbelievably overpowered ships, go on a rampage EVERY TIME you play with them. They sometimes get a shipyard and research facility built before I have. They then build a small fleet of ships and begin to annoy people with RAsiliks and Brinoks and the like. Then they build an advanced shipyard, and pump out Galors, and pulverise the other AI players. Which is especially annoying if the Klingons are your allies and are not doing anything, and I end up having to surround their base with battleships just to stop the Cardassians from attacking, while the Romulans mysteriously stop their building program when they've built a shipyard and use Shrikes from then on.

It's hard work playing with the AI. That's why it's AI Hard :p.

lol, i agree. Is anybody good enough at modding to make the ai smarter. Or at least not make them have to build everything. They build every reacherch pod even if they never get the ship. LOL please reply. I get that prob 2. Once i faced 3 hard borg vs me. I never saw any ships for like 1 hour so i went and attacked. They still had built nothing!!!! That was the biggest waste of an hour! lol please help THX - FEDHELL

In reply to an earlier post, the AI works fine on AI Easy and AI Medium - and no, I didn't destroy the scout vessel, they had a shipyard before I did, so they could, then they just sat there, in typical 'duh' fashion, then only fired when an Intrepid Class vessel decided it'd be fun to do a Voyager and fill the holes with transphasic torpedoes, then when quiet until a fleet of Sovereign Class starships attacked it.... where it sat there and did nothing!

I see the hidden comments now: probably something like this. AI Easy (Really AI Medium, we just don't want you to know) AI Medium (Actually AI Hard, as the AI does something and tries to beat you, albeit failing) AI Hard (Technically AI Dead for the way the computer plays, AI Hard for having to fight back the impulse to sleep)

A funny ST related moment that occured while off set: Picard doing the intro in a Yorkshire accent. Sounds something like this:

Space. T' final frontier. These are the voyages of t' Starship Ent'prise.
