Was Armada and Armada 2 successful enough for a third armada? Is there any chance for Armada 3? Any hints or rumors of an Armada 3? I would really like to see an armada 3 they could've made it where you could play as the federation, klingons, romulans or cardassians or dominion in single player and add other races.

Im sorry mate, but it would appear not - remember A2 is nine years old now...And I think the rights to the Star Trek name, game wise no longer rests with Activision... Although, with the new JJverse and all, there will likely be new Star Trek games coming out, I would expect them to be more action based, and not RTS. But never mind, eh? there are so many excellent mods out that we dont really need an A3...look at Fleet Ops, Art of War, Dawn of War, (soon Yester Years) and others...

Due to Activision suing CBS/Paramount there is no chance whatsoever of seeing another Armada. (in my opinion)

We probably don't stand much of a chance of getting any more discs issued for existing games either, the last lot were released by activision just when they were launching their lawsuit and were (presumably?) withdrawn from sale when they settled it. I don't recall seeing any (new) discs for sale after then, at any rate.

Look at the improvements made between Armada being released (the original) and Armada 2.

Then look at the improvements made to A2 by this community --the Upgrade Project, the Physics Project, the FleetOps patch, the huge number of mods available, the easy-to-follow tutorials already available.....

While it'd be nice to get more copies of A2 available to people, would we really want the steep learning curve of A3? Who knows what the idiots at Activision would program in (or worse, as they did with A2, forget to program or forget to remove)? And who knows if it'd even be worth it? Legacy uses an upgraded version of the Armada engine and it's still buggy as hell despite the mod community's best efforts.

If they're actually working on a new Armada title, as dinoJR points out, it'll be based upon the new movie. But they don't make money from RTS anymore. Can't sell that on an Xbox. So it's highly unlikely we'll ever see A3. But with this community working on the old model, I have to believe it's for the best (unless they hire US to make the new game, which is highly unlikely).

To be honest I think personaly it is a shame that Activision do not realise any other Armada version but that is not so serious. It is with guys like us that a such game can survive so long!

Not only has Activision has lost the ST license (currently in hands of Bethesda) but also Maddoc, the developer of Star Trek Armada 1 & 2 + Star Trek Legacy, has been bought and integrated into Rockstar Games. :uhm:

Have a look at Halo Wars on the XB360, it worked out fairly well. But I agree a A3 is unlikely on any platform.

Double Amen brother :) Never played it, but it does seem to be really popular... Also, its Halo - it cant lose!;) But I seem to remember the petition from like a couple of years ago (read like when I joined the community) Back then Activision and Maddoc didnt really care - and now they legally cant do anything... the chances of A3 being made are looking slim, very slim...like slimmer than an anorexic vegetarian super model on a volenteer work placement in a famine zone after the last bag of plumpynut is empty and the cattle are all dead, having already eaten all the corn and...well, you get the idea... If we could just get them to drop the EUA and go open source...
