Hi there, I just recently joined the forums to get some help i've been having and to post on the games here.

Been using FF for a while but never checked out the forums much.

I recently bought a newer pc from a friend so game on for the next yr or so until we both build new core duo systems.

I'm attempting to install Armada but every time I have an issue. Install gets to about 68.9% complete and then it all just grinds to a halt. Can't hear the disc installing like you would on any install and it doesn't install as fast as it would on a newer system.

Tried a few times and each time i've deleted the instances from the registry and any files left behind to make sure it's a clean install but still get the same problem.

I then tried a manual install from what's listed on Activision's support of the game. Copying all the Data files from the Setup folder seemed to work until it got to one specific file, which might be why the install slowed to a crawl.

An error pops up "Cannot copy GVORC208.wav: Cannot read from the source file or disk."

I'm guessing that's the issue that's been giving me a problem but I can't figure out why. Would rather not buy the game over again...but since it's been out for a while I suppose if I had to I could.

Before resorting to that though, know anywhere where I could dl that one file or someone could send to me? Really like to play this game again and i've been itching to play the Star Trek vs Star Wars mod again

Thanks!

Brian

Thanks Cecil! Really thought that that would fix it but it seems the entire disk is having read errors. Tried copying the folder where that file is aside from that one corrupt one, just sat there with the cd light blinking.

Star Trek games just aren't liking me too much lately. I've been having trouble installing Bridge Commander and it looks like that disk is corrupted as well.

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy new copies of both it seems.

Error i've been having with BC is close to being one of the ones listed on the Activision support site, but different # error. Emailed them and they suggested doing the same thing for Armada but it didn't work.

Only problem is noone seems to have any copies of Armada 1 & 2 for what they should be priced. Many of the sites i've found, including Ebay, have them priced almost what a new game might cost.

Absolutely ridiculous since the game's been around for a few yrs now.

Any suggestions on sites?

Hafta keep looking to try to find a reasonable price.

The game isn't produced or sold anymore so as far as I know you are limted to folks who want to part with there copy via ebay and the like. It seems unlikely that both Armada and Bridge Commander would be corrupted. What are your system specs and what operating system are you running?

Dell XPS P4 3.2GHZ 2GB of Ram 232 GB HD GeForce 68oo GT Audigy 2 Cable

Previous pc I had was a AMD 3200+, 1GB of RAM and a 300gb hd....but it was only at 2.4ghz so my friend offered this one up from a friend he had.

We're planning on buying and building dual core systems but in the meantime I wanted something a little beefier to play games on.

Any suggestions?

I've had problems with BC for a few weeks now...maybe longer but I didn't play the game for a while so I can't be too sure. Not having the same problems with both games but both do seem to be disc-read errors. At least according to the Activision www site the errors seem to be that.

I'm trying to buy Armada 1 & 2, BC and Elite Force 2 off of Ebay. Do any of those games have registration requirements where once you register or enter in that code that noone else can use it?

Don't think Armada has that but want to make sure that none of the others do either.

There are no Trek games (that I am aware of) that come with a CD key.

Your PC should be fine for playing Armada, although I'm not sure that a P4 3.2GHz is better than an AMD3200+, AMD processors always work at lower clockspeeds but are higher performace per circle (until the intel core 2 duos came out), the RAM upgrade would have helped you though.

If your gunna buy a new copy off E-bay expect to pay at least £40 for it, likely more. Ensure that you treat the disk with love and care when you've got it as I'll bet in time it's gunna be unreplaceable :(
