hello everyone. i just finished viewing the ship request forum and figured, "hey, why not start one up for those requesting mods?" well here it is.

the goal of this thread basically is to connect those looking for a particular mod or want one done to anyone looking to do one. this thread also applies to maps and other miscellaneous mods (hence the name).

well, i guess i'll start this off. i'm curious if it is possible to convert the romulan plasma torpedo from Starfleet Command 3 to the Armada. considering that no one has made a romulan plasma torp mod and the SFC3 one looks really cool i figured i'd ask. thanks to anyone in advance who can help me or someone else looking for help.

Whilst I'm no weapon genius by any means this should be easily possible as long as you can get a TGA with the correct frames of animation (check the torpedo texture files to see what I mean).

well, the torp texture is there but i can't access the sprite file to get the display specs. plus it has a trail of little green 'drops' of plasma trailing it. needless to say, i have no idea how to transfer the torpedo to Armada. that's why i've set up this thread. i'm no genius when it comes to weapons textures and the like either. any further help would be appreciated.

Here's an idea that someone with modding experience (unlike my-self cause I don't have a clue) could try. If you think having ablative armor is a necessity try adding it as a pod that surrounds the ship. You may need to make a new pod odf file and to work you would need to sods but wouldn't it give the effect of the armor deploying?

Another Xplode.sod roughly three times as large as the current one, using different texture files as animation source (I want to use own textures). Or should I post this in the model request forum?

Admiral Krause, the pod/armor idea sounds great, but it would never be able to protect the ship 100%. Even you did create a pod that surrounded the ship completely. Just look at the upgrade pods for the Klingons, ie, weapon upgrade level 3 .sod is slightly larger than weapon upgrade level 2 .sod. but I've had instances where an enemy came in and was able to destroy the level 2 pod, but not the level 3 pod. It's not the .sod file that takes damage, it's the hardpoints! In a case like that, the armor/pod would do you no good. Although it would probably look wicked while being built! Great idea!
