Hi, I was just wondering if there are any documents or help files related to making missions. I want to make my own missions for armada 2 and so far I cannot figure out how to make new objectives. any suggestions would be helpful thank you.

Unfortuneately, game coding will only allow you to edit missions and at that, not much. Another clever trick though is to take other missions, copy the name and replace them over one, then change the scenario slightly, the forces etc. and you have essentially a different mission. This means that if you ever wanted to have a campaign where all you had to do was kill kill kill, all you had to do was copy those files, in theory. This would require a heck of a lot of work and maps would need to be changed too. Anyhow, there are a couple of mods over at www.armada2files.com that actually change the missions, such as the Deep Space Nine (Dominion Wars) Mission Pack and the TNG mission pack.

agreed, there is little that can be done with the templates already in game (missions) you can edit a few measures (ie collect 2000 metal can be changed to collect 4000 or which ships report to the game) with a basic hex editor (but dont do it if you dont know what you are doing), as jolt says the best way is just to edit established missions to the effects you want (this is how dominionn wars was made), dont forget you need also edit the odf files that control the map editor (then you can add new ships and stations etc), and dynamic_locolized_strings so you can change mission names and texts, also a good wav convertor for in game animations and sounds would help. If you need any help pm me NB - I made DS9 Dominion Wars and the TNG mission pack. links:- DS9 Dominion Wars http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Dominion_Wars;47582 Patch http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Deep_Space_9_Dominion_Wars_Patch;48368 TNG Mission Pack http://armada2.filefront.com/file/The_Next_Generation_Mission_Pack;46351

I think I can do what I want done with editing established missions, however when I change my races and such they don't do anything..... they respond when attacked but they do not mount any assaults of thier own. For example I tried to add the Dominion to a Klingon mission, the cardassians attacked but the Dominion just didn't do alot.... is there anyway to make it so that the AI will command extra races when added to a mission?

You need to be very accurate with what you add, you need to make sure you have added the new race to the map editor otherwise the ships will just be map items and if you replace say a klingon ship with a dominion ship, you need to add the label from the klingon ship to the dominion ship so the game can control it.

Oh and something thats important that I found out. The footprint (squared area) that appears around stations, MUST NOT overlap with other objects otherwise the game will crash.
