A quick question Would Federation starships shields/hull protect against an electromagnetic pulse? (The link above is to Google if you don't know what an EMP is) Later Deepwater

Certainly the shields would. We must assume that a theoretical way to thwart EMPs exists in the ST universe.

what do you think federation sheilds are?? There Strong EMPs of energy that osceilate around a ship to repel other forms of energy. They osceilate soooo fast that they also prevent solid objects (example photon caseings) though the sheilds. Another EMP would Drain the sheilds, but until they are brought down, it will not have any effect over ship systems. Then the pulse has to be strong enough to penitrate the navagational deflector stuff, the structual integretity feild, and the non-conductive inner hull and heavy surge proteching of the ship systems.

So it could effect them only if it could get through all of those protechtive systems.

yes, the EMP would have little to no effect on sheilds well.. probably not we would really never know. However there is more modern versions of the weapon, such as the brean energy drain weapon..

Okay just wanted to know as my new mod uses nukes instead of torpedoes, so I was wondering wether to put EMP effects in or not.
