First of let me start by saing this IS NOT A BITCH ABOUT FILE FRONT thread. We all know there are serious problems. However a real update from the network staff on what exactly is wrong and when they think they will have it fixed would be greatly appreiciated. The purpose of this thread is to find some kind of temporary work around for these issuses. I have a 217 meg coni pack they have been trying to get up and the Sovereign pack which is up but no one seems to be able to download. Requests for an alternate link for the file are starting to come in and I can't afford to pay to host anywhere. More mods are comming down the pipe and will be here soon so a solution of sorts need to be found to prevent a back log. Anyone with real workable seggetions outthere?

For 7 day hosting yousendit is a good alternative, it's what I use often for sending large files. Other than that, I got nothing unless someone wants to download it from MSFC.

I really believe these issues really need to be looked at. I know the Volunteer staff have their hands tied but Break really needs to see about doing something as the new files are what brings people back here.

starfox. I see no reason why you shouldn't bitch at filefront. Every time I go onto ANY download page I have to refresh up to 6 times simply because the site is reporting "Invalid file ID!"

Well I was hopeing that some of the higher ups might actualbe interested in finding a solution. One would hope they are aware of the problems but then the CIA provides better update on what going on to fix these problems then we have been getting from upstairs. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT No news is not good news; it just makes it look like you guys don't care. I was hoping to have a discusion on how might fix this or at least work out a bandaid solution but I just found out from Starblade today that linking the Download isn't an option.

Revolt! Staff and Members alike need to do something. This mess is a joke. It's been like this for ages now, what the hell do the guys at the top think they're playing at? Surely they must realise that a faulty network is going to result in fewer and fewer community members. Eventually they're going to lose out. They must be a bunch of moronic idiots if they can't see that.

I envy you. I've not actually been able to download anything, regardless of how many times I refresh a page.

Anyway, alternates. All I can currently (re)suggest is MSFC. The only... issue some may have there, is that you need to be a member, and (I believe) need to have some sort of post count before you have access to the download section?

@ Majestic, would it be worth while having a second download page somewhere on MSFC where people can go and download files that aren't specific to one site or the other? Saves people thieving your work (or the work of others on your site) whilst also having MSFC as a backup (soon to be replacement) of A2Files?

I don't see a problem with being a member of a site to download anything. its been like that on AFC ever since the site opened.

Of course, by doing that, you restrict the number of downloads you could get quite a bit (as I'm sure you would note on AFC, based on the number of new registerees vs downloads) - most people do not want to register in order to download.

Dominus. That might be the case but in the end its their choice to download a file if their registered or not. You might be surprised at how many people download just so they can use other model and texture assets themselves.
