I'll put it this way, in the eyes of the retailers the game is a lost lead, but it still has a massive following (just check out this site) on the net/around the world. Trek fan or not just from a RTS point of view its great, and you can add so much to it (again see whats on this site), any way thats may 2 pence worth.......

Considering heh as posted in the A2 Forums, one would hope so :) On topic, and to reply to the thread starter, yes, buy the game. On it's own it isn't bad, but once you get those MOD's rolling in you'll be well on your way :)

Hello stranger. Still waiting on the EaW modding tools eh??

It depends on your point of view of how you prefer your games. In retrospect Armada 2 (or A2 as its usually called around the community), is in many ways probably the best RTS based trek game your likely to see. Only problem is the story is pretty poor in my opinion, but what it lacks in gaming experience it makes up for ease of use. There is also a great selection of mods which can be used, and A2 itself is pretty dam easy to mod if your up to the challenge of doing it yourself. Modelling is made much simpler by the availability of the model exporters and various tutorials. You may also find the combat methods for A2 to be somewhat similair in looks to EaW's own space based combat mode (at least the camera is a hell of alot easier to control). Still. Just remember its pretty old for an rts game, but still ticking over nicely.
