I was just wondering what people would rather see - Armada 3 or the Armada 2 source code???
i dont reay need the source code cause i dont know what t do with it but an armada 3 would be cool. especialy if it had all the best ships from this site built right in.

doubtful you'll see the ships here, because the poly count is to high. Id rather the source code, after all. Changes to that would make it armada3 :-D
I agree. In addition to the source code, I'd like to see a utility to write single player missions. You know those .dsl & .drl files. I'm working on a Classic Star Trek Armada Mod(features ships and stations centered around ST: TOS) It would be cool to make a single player campaign based on that era. But until we can modify those files, it's kinda hard.
i'd like to see an armada 3, but we'll have to wait maybe until Star Trek 12 movie comes out to have it since they need a spot in the timeframe of the storyline.

Poly count to high?? Hmmmmm, oh well.
Anyway, to the question.
1) Source Code release?? Very useful to those who can program in the necessary language, but pretty useless to the rest until things started being released. By then the game would be long given up on. 2) Armada 3 release?? A more viable solution so long as it was done correctly. Listening to the people who play the game - the fans, is the first step. I'm surprised no-ones tried to build their own game engine using the SOD defined model format (its been reverse engineerined before now for the model conversion plugins). I mean the Armada community as a whole have come out with some incredibly useful ideas, and as for models. Well we've all seen the kind of quality thats been released and in the works.
Its a shame that Activision didn't give Mad Doc the flexibility they so needed (I bet there was a good few times when those at MD wanted to work on ideas from the community). Then it would have been a far better release.

in the un modded armada isnt the poly count on some models only like 1200? when modded i have alittle trouble getting 1000 or so ships in :) maybe more. im a fan of low poly models because of my cr@py system. but your right, if activision would have let Mad Doc do what they wanted, it might have been alot better.
