The fact that Armada II is not sold now, and people are completely oblivious to the fact that by not exploiting the lack of the demo license agreement and making mods for Armada II that conveniently happens to work with the demo the community is slowly dying. We have people leaving and nobody coming in to replace them. Do the math.

Because people are ignoring this blatantly obvious fact while simultaneously complaining that they don't get as much feedback/downloads as they used to the community is condemned to death in the long term.

Nobody seems willing to bite the bullet and accept that while the demo has its own limits its the only viable way we have of surviving in the long term. People would rather do nothing and watch the community dwindle rather than bring in new people.

Mods like the mini mod discussed quite a while back with Galacticia fighting three Cylon motherships and a resurrection ship would run quite happily in the demo and would be likely to get people from outside the community playing it. If people play it, then we would likely get a few people join the community from it.

hate the fact after awhile the edit feature disappears. Back on topic. Armada demo is missing few file and that is only thing missing between it and full game. Problem is the demo is set up so that their are only two race. You would have to replace or hack the exe.

I tried a experiment and was able to get to work as such, but it ask for cd. The second way involved using crack no cd patch wich i believe are illegal on file front. So if some one was to do it you would have to hack the exe. It is free ware so i don't know why any one would care if you hacked it.

I take your advice on making a mod for demo lol. Hmmm Dominion war ... i have some of the permission think i need ghost comp thoe. I will never finish it. I never do

If A2 isn't sold anymore (or when Activision aren't making any money from it) surely that renders the EULA stuff (within reason) null and void? If by changing something you suddenly make the full game freeware, then nobody loses money in any way, and so they shouldn't care! (I want/wish I knew a lawyer) If, in the event that such an "offence" should re-kindle demand for A2, then it should be put back into production. However, this is not possible any more & so the only option is above.

Well Jetfreak, you'll like KA2 V.1.1 then. Fixes both those problems :) Personally, I disliked the whole hoohar over the importer, but I don't want to dig that up again. Apart from that I agree with thunderfoot. Gamewise, I hate the way the new (A2 only) interesting features are hardcoded.

The two races limit is one of the only serious limitations of the demo, but you can work around it with a little creativity. Like evolving an embryo into a starbase for instance. That allows you to have plenty of separate races. A little messy perhaps, but it would be worth it. FileFront will not host any files with a hacked executable.

In any case, if your doing a smaller project such as the BSG mod it would work perfectly.

But yeah. Modding for the demo would be a step down from the main game. Thats obvious to everybody, but I think that keeping modding in A2 alive is worth it.

No, it dosen't. Copyright on everything in A2 will expire in 2071 at which point you would be able to distribute it without getting sued. I would prefer to do something before then as I feel 2071 is going to be a bit to late.
