So I'm gonna keep putting these threads together, it seems. Let's see how you do with this one:

You can mod a weapon, thanks to the amazing upgrade I just made up, that allows you to use 'psy-ops' in Armada II.

Specifically, you can use any song you want, as a weapon. You can't hear it in your game. But your targeted opponents can (in multiplayer-- doesn't affect AI, and you can only target one enemy at a time). And just to complete the fun, you can only use one song. No remixes or compilations of twelve songs strung into one file etc.

You can turn any tune into a weapon of mass auditory distraction.

.....so which song do you use?

And what ship do you outfit for the purpose?

I'll weigh in with my response tomorrow. ;)

Any song by Britney Spears should scare you long enough into in-action. Fitted onto a Borg ship...resistance IS futile afterall, eh.

I stuck the Borg first contact "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE" sound on the borg nanites in the first public release of the Upgrade Project. It was great fun, but not something I could test prior to release. I got the first person that I ran across that had the project installed to let me shoot a ship with the nanites just to test it.

I still find it funny, after shooting his ship I asked if he heard anything. He asked me to shoot the ship again, which I did. Worrying that it wasn't working I asked him what he heard. After a few long moments where I was trying to figure out what I might have done to break the sound file he replied "the borg telling me they are going to own me" Great fun.

But yeah, if you do this remember you need permissions for any music you distribute online.

Exactly. Always play nice with the things you need permission to use, kids. ESPECIALLY stuff like music. Copyright lawsuits are worse than the Borg.

Celine Dion has the advantage of both qualifying as psy-ops material AND armour-piercing ability. Even the Defiant can't stand up to that damned Titanic song at full volume....

It'd be appropriate for the Klingons, mind you.

"My bat'leth will go on."

See, works.

Mass auditory distraction? Okay. I have some suggestions. To annoy your foes - anything disco. To cause them to drop to the floor screaming in pain and begging you to accept their surrender - anything by any 90's Boy Band
