whilst editing the ODF files for Armada 2, I've come accross many little edits, such as "does this still work", and "clean to here" etc. It makes me wonder, did Mad Doc Software fully complete Armada 2? It seems to me like some development notes, and possibly non-working things by the sound of it creeped into the final of Armada 2.

Perhaps i'm bringing up old news, but it's not often I edit files that still have developer notes in it :p

Yeah, we've known about this for.... ever. Anyway, you can always edit the comments out. Game runs slightly faster if you do.

Well, obviously you've known about it since the game release, but still:p

I don't think they finished. If you have a look through the files there are entries for things like a replay system and voice chat that aren't implemented.

That is a Cube which launches a Sphere as it is being destroyed, a la ST:FC. I never did figure out how to get the thing to work correctly in game. But I think someone else did. I remember seeing a mod with the words, "Mama Cube", in the name somewhere during a file trawl.

Hmm, I bet that would be cool. I might search armada2files later on. Few more things I'm unsure about, which I will ask here to save spamming the place;

gripple.odf - special weapon file, wpnName = "THIS IS A BUG" tooltip = "THIS IS A BUG" verboseTooltip = "THIS IS A BUG

any ideas? I'm guessing it is actually used for something, and their just generic errors Mad Doc did.

Secondly, whilst searching odfs, i've found a value for shieldProtection, where nothing internally is damaged until shields fail, is there something that affects systems, but not the personel? (or vice versa)

thirdly; I'm trying to make a weapon which will trigger the targets self-destruct sequence, if the ship has it, anyone know if this is achievable?

He it is:

MamaCube, Star Trek: Armada 2 Downloads, Star Trek: Armada 2 Borg

EDIT: I loled when I saw THIS IS A BUG and what is ken_special.odf? Its some sort of Nebula Class.. and also, why is the Omega Particle in the list of odfs? That was only in A1!

Remember that not all the code from A1 was removed when they upgraded the game engine to make A2. Unfortunately they left a PILE of shit in there that really makes no sense to include, unless you consider that they simply didn't take the time to remove the previous game.

The "ken_special" ship is one of the featured Nebula class starships in the campaign, I think. It has a hero weapon setup. But I've never figured out where they come in.

Well.. I brought an active almost true to life Omega Particle to A2 with my Omega effect mod.
