I haven't been here in a while cus i got tired of all damn lagging servers and my attmept to get a server up got me ~100$ poorer :/ But just now i figured i should play some skirmish on avp1 but it hacks like hell :/ i have a amd 2200+ 1gb 2700 ram a 9200 gfx card. Damn this game went alot smoother on my old p2 300 mhz with 64 mb ram a a suckage ati rage pro 4 mb.
You're running XP, right? And what drivers are you using for your video card? Also, are you using vanilla AvP1, or AvP1 Gold? I've noticed that, for whatever reason, sound settings can have an effect on gameplay performance. Also, don't forget that the game actually runs better with the music CD in the tray.
Yea i got xp, got the gold version(btw whats the diffrence? :P) I dont know really which driver i got but it's 4.x problly 4.5 or sth and its some hacked ver so i can clock it. I used hq music without eax cus i dont think my built in audio form kt400 supports that ;) Also i think its sth about the sound cus when i change stuff in the menys it dosent hack that bad but when i were supposto chnage the master volume i had like 1 fps tops :/
What do you mean by 'hack'? Do you mean skips i.e. low framerate? Oh, and the Gold version of AvP1 contains the millenium expantion pack, which adds ten new maps (or of them, Lockdown4, is hidden), two new weapons (dual pistols and the skeeter), and replaces the old in-game FMV's to ones acted in by Rebellion employees. There's also code optimization and the ability to use a now defunct program (forgot what it was called) that let you run the game in a dedicated server fasion, which meant you could change species without leaving the game.
Yes thats what i mean ;)
NM i got it working just needed to have that music disc in, didnt even know there was music on it :D
AvP1 acts kinda peculiar with newer operating systems. For instance, sounds on my version tend to reverberate for long periods of time. And if I don't exit the opening Fox Interactive video at the begining before it start making sound, the that note the opening video makes will continue to play over and over again until I close the game.
Oh noes me again!

yes, i have the same problem, the sound just keeps repeating, maybe its a hardware acceleation issue
