Why aren't their any total conversions for AVP 2. Is it too hard to mod?
There is an AvP2 Second Edition mod by ALPHA... i dont know if ud call it a total conversion tho, but weapons have been ajusted, eg. Pulse rifle has had its damage reduced and fire rate increased No EMP nades, but napalm nades instead, Player classes have been altered and added eg. Heavy weapons - Movment has been slowed, increased armour to 400 etc. Sniper - rail gun has increased rate of fire (not by too much tho), u have shottie instead of nade launcer Demolitions - shottie, nade launcher (and is able to pickup a rocket launcher even with ClWS* on) Specialist - starts with some basic weapons but is able to pick up any weapon (again even with CWS* on) Preatorin - now has a short range pounce (to be honest more like a lundge than pounce) Stealth alien - not entirly sure what makes it stealth, but Only has head bite! no pounce, tail whip. is slower than a marine too... but there must be a compansation factor... might not show on radar and be semi invisible (but im not sure) Any way... for more info if u havnt heard about this mod go to alphaclan(dot)org I did look for the link to the appropriate page, but as always, u cant find it when u want it lol if u still cant find it and are interested leave me a post and i can mail u the ReadMe which tells u every thing that has been changed and updated (assuming i can find that, lol the dissadvantage of 4x 200gig hdds) *CWS=Class Wepon Sets To moderator: I'm sorry for getting round the url filter thing, but i'm not advertising [i have no links to that site] i'm mearly trying to help with the question)
Hmmm...That mod looks pretty good. But I would like to see some Total Conversions on AVP 2. I mean, with its features it could make for a good mod.
ive only played it once, and found that if u play bug v rine the teams seem very unbalanced, but cant say ive played it long enough to get a feel for the new fetures cos as with anything u rnt used to no matter what u do u seem to be unbalanced till u get the hang of it. but like i say also, servers for that mod are hard to come by, ALPHA had a server running that mod, and it wasnt up for long anyway. Maybe if they made like an extreme mod, simalar to UT's... health regenerates, ammo reganerates, and your weapon damage and fire rate are greatly increased and bang in some nice open maps, with duck and cover stuff, could make for an exciting dm or tdm mod! There aren't many total conversions because: 1.) The AvP game attracts a certain fanbase in the first place. Unlike games like Half-Life and Unreal Tournament, the only modes you'll see are almost always Aliens or Predator related 2.) Modding isn't easy. You can't make new models with animations without SoftEdit, a rather pricy pro modelling software. Then there's the fact that the source code was only released for something like a day before being yanked by Fox Interactive. There's still some places you can find it, but good luck at it. 3.) The game just isn't very modder-friendly. To get mods to work, you have to add lines to the Command Line Parameter, a far cry from games like Quake 3 where you just go to the mods menu and choose the mod you want to run.
Here is a mod I made called KING_MOD. http://files.filefront.com/3334371;/pub2/Aliens%20vs%20Predator%202/Modifications/Mini%20Mods/ It skins all the multiplayer characters, gives new sounds for both multiplayer and singleplayer, new splash, loading screen/custom level background screen, music, etc. The best part about it is that you can join any server while running this mod. For more info, look at the mod's readme on my site: www.freewebs.com/kingskins/
The PROJAM mod is an excellent mod. They've made it more true to the movies and the Colonial Marines Technical Manual.
Where can I find Projam?
