I started playing the federation campaign for a second time, and thought that adding in a whole bunch of ships into my game would really breath some life into it I started adding ships to my game, all of which have had no problems in the install.

but when i started playing again, i noticed that when i finished the second level "Lifelines", and the cutscene plays, it gets to the Admiral's Log and crashes to the desktop, with a black window with Armada 2 on it, and a "such and such has performed an illegal operation and must be blah blah blah" error.

I can't get back into the game until i have restarted my machine. And it is getting annoying cos it is happening on every damn level!!!!!

Is there anything i have touched or done wrong to cause this? cos i can't find anything wrong!!!!

Sorry, no it doesn't!! ;)

It is more likely that one or more of the ships you have added is listed as being of a race that is not in A2.

Check the section of the ODF that says race = "Federation" and if there is a race named there that is different from the races that are in A2, that is your problem!! :D

How were they messed up?? Obviously this can be another reason for the crash if it has happened to you, i've never had it happen though.

The only time i've had the pics messed up was when they were too big but the Admirals Log still worked, it just displayed only part of the pic!! :p

hmm, i have gone thru all of the odf's that i have edited to make sure that the "race =" is correct, and i couldnt find anything wrong. Although i did do it when i was half-asleep, so i probably overlooked a couple!

Just a quick question:

A lot of the ships that i have d/led, like the USS Relativity, The Singularity Class, the Miranda Class, all the AVM ships, the Nova Class, the Dauntless Class, etc etc, didnt seem to have an image for bitmaps\AdmiralsLog\ShipImages, whereas the NX Class i d/led did have one included.

Do i have to make one for each of the new ships i have put into the game? or doesnt it matter? could this be why it is crashing?

You don't have to have a pic in the Admirals Log at all. The only thing that happens is that there will be a black space where the pic is supposed to be. BTW it is easy to make a pic; just take a screenshot and edit it in Paint.

Ah Ha!!!!

i fixed it!!! it was the "race = " command. seems like the AVM USS Voyager and Janeway's shuttles didnt have it in the UNarmored ship odf.

I added it, and it works now, YAY!

thanx everybody!!!!
