Hi all,

You may know me from this thread: http://www.gamingforums.com/showthread.php?t=113251

Anyway, Recently, I tried to use the "Big Book of Moding" and tryed adding the incursion to my game, and it locked up when I tryed running an instant action, meaning, it loaded only one notch and then stopped. I figured because there was so much crap from the dominion mod that something screwed up. So I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. This time, I didn't add the dominion.

I have made two modifications to the newly installed game so far: I changed the photon torpedos to the quantums that the sovs have on the defiant and made it cloakable, and 2nd I tryed adding the incursion again. It does the same thing again!

I did everything exactly how they said. Could I have corrupted a file by opening it or something? I've never run into this problem before! I recently reloaded my windows XP and before that when I modded A2, everything worked fine, but now.........

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Hmmmm, this is strange considering that the incursion is a stock based model. Can you post the contents of your incursions ODF file. perhaps it'll give somewhere to start.

Okay this is bizzare because as Payne said the incursion is stock. The problem must lie with the odf. However I have a similar problem (buggered up starbase) but it only effects certain levels have you tried all levels

Well, since that's all that there was I just reinstalled the game. Ok. Since I haven't done this in so long, I'm pretty much a noob again. Would you guys have any tips on getting started? What programs I need? What programs to open the various A2 files in, etc. I already have the Big Book of Modding and the "Planning a mod" thing.

Most of the standard files (ODF, TT, SPR) can be opened and edited with either notepad or wordpad. Texture files (TGA) are editable with a program that open and save Truevision tarGA format (program such as Paint Shop pro or Photoshop is ideal). For model creation you'll need just a basic 3d modelling package (milkshape 3d or 3dmax studio are the normal ones as both have SOD based exporters for them).

Now thats set the scene, you should have something to progress with.

Ok. I've downloaded the Big book of modding and the "Planning a Mod" tutorial. I have the storyline and everything planned. What is my next step? Any tips for preparing or "Before I begin" to start a mod? Any existing mods I should look at? etc..
