having trouble with installing the delta flyer, by Spectre. when i go to the .odf file station fyard and add buildItem8 = "fdelta" and then try to save it says: Access to C:\Program files\Activision\Star Trek Armada II\odf\stations\fyard.odf was denied. any help would be great, thanks
one more thing ok when you install armada 2 and you go into the programs for the first time you have to select what program to use to open files like the Sprites, how do you change the program to open a file once one has been choosen?
I think you forget to disable the read only protection.
For your second question, this is the only way I know of how but you must know that there are other ways, download total commander from http://www.ghisler.com/ Select the file in question (in this program, which is quite usefull, compared to explorer thing from microfracture), go to file, and select associate with. Then select the program you want.
1 - Have you checked that the .odf isn't set to read-only
2 - To change the default program for a file, first select the file, then, while holding shift, right-click on the file and choose open with and choose program. Here you can select a program to open with and select, if you want to use this program as a default. (use notepad for .spr)
ok thanks a lot guys i have another question, im new to his site and havent downloaded anything for armada 2 before coming to this site, so my question is when i download a ship or station it wont let me build the last ship or station i downloaded and the build buttons and everything to do with the last download is gone from ingame but is still in all the files how do i fix this so i can build multiple downloaded items?
I think this is your problem: Most downloads come with copies of all the associated files (.odf, .spr etc.). If you for instance install a federation ship and use the fyard.odf that came with the download, it will overwrite all the modifications you have made (the modders usually only includes the stock ships and their own ships). To counter this problem you simply use the cut/paste-methode. Instead of overwrite every .odf with new ones, simply cut the relevant lines and paste them into the stock. odfs. This works for both odfs, sprites, and techtree-files. be sure to places the lines in the rigth places :) This process takes some practice, and you will undoubtedly make some mistakes (we all do...)
