For your delight, three videos showcasing the following special abilities: - the blow torch, for human engineers

- a laser-based torch, for predator engineers

- the netgun based sentry gun, deployed by predator engineers, shown here while helping to take out a runner

Although not lethal, the netgun sentry can make a player an easy target for the regular sentry gun.

These, and the goodies shown previously are implemented in this Friday's build. So, head to AvP2 Fortress mod and get the latest alpha.

We are glad to announce that good progress has been made in implementing the CTF game mode mechanics:

YouTube - AvP2 Fortress: Capture The Flag mechanics

A short description as to what's going in the video: - 00:00-00:10 - configuring the server and selecting the CTF testbench map - 00:10-00:16 - capturing the blue flag - 00:16-00:20 - red team scores - 00:20-00:37 - the blue flag is captured again, but it's dropped due to character change. - 00:37-00:50 - the red demolitions picks it up again, and scores. - 00:50-01:08 - the red demolitions makes another capture, then changes teams, becoming a blue demolitions. The blue flag is dropped. - 01:08-01:20 - the blue demolitions retrieves the blue flag. - 01:20-01:35 - the blue demolitions captures the red flag, then changes (yep, again ...) the team, becoming a red demolitions. The red flag is dropped. - 01:35-01:43 - the red demolitions captures the blue flag - 01:43-01:46 - the red demolitions returns the red flag (dropped at 01:35 by the blue demolitions) - 01:46-01:50 - the red demolitions can now scores (which he eventually does) - 02:00-02:15 - the perspective of capturing the flag and scorring while using the runner character.

As you also noticed from the video, there is no scorring mechanism set up. Yet. Also not in the video, two minutes after droping the flag, it will be automatically reset (returned to it's home base).

The following alpha builds will be focus on improving the scorring mechanisms, for both WAR game mode and the upcomming CTF game mode

AvP2 Team Fortress: alpha build 4 captures the flag!

The fourth alpha build for AvP2 Team Fortress mod introduces a new game type: Capture The Flag.

For this Friday's build, we're proud to introduce Capture the flag. Although the scorring is similar to the one used in the War game mode (one capture wins the match), the mechanics of CTF are well enough implemented to allow the game mode to be released.

So, visit AvP2 Fortress mod, get the alpha build, and enjoy the CTF_a_similar_fate map. Oh, and make sure nobody grabs your flag and manages to score.

Yep, this Friday's build get's very close to beta quality. The main focus for this build was re-doing the multiplayer interface, to accomodate the new gametypes (assault, war and the others). What ended up is:

Just in case you didn't manage to see the rules for each game mode, you can always head to the gallery.

The game mode that also get's a map is Assault. Here is a short demo:

The rules are simple: the blue team (attackers) must destroy the red cube before the time runs out. Otherwise, the defenders (red team) win.

Another new feature in this build is the dedicated server. That's right, you can now have some serious fun. To make the experience risk-free, the old server and the old server configurations are backed up, so now swapping from regular AvP2 to AvP2 Fortress should be as easy as differential equations ... erm, pie. I meant pie.

Last, but not least, a word of caution for predator players: when carrying the flag, you cannot cloak.

That looks great i love AVP2 and TF2 putting them together sound right to me. I see that is a work in progress, this project most def have some potential i cant wait to see it when it reach its peek...I hope to test the mod when i have time keep up the good work

Hey, good to see another one who likes the idea! Yep, the mod is still in alpha stage (not all features are in), but it's definately playable. Keep an eye on AvP2 Fortress mod, we release a build each Friday.
