Lately, I've been trying to login to multiplayer and I keep getting this error about a "CD key already in use". Apparently, somebody is using my personal CD key to log in, and there is no way for me to get online as long as they're using it.

I'm using the retail version of AvP2 patched up to v. 1.0.9.6, and I'm using the CD key that came with it. I haven't given out my key to anybody, nor have I posted it online. So, I'm down to one of two possible explanations; somebody at Amazon.com (where I bought the game) took the CD key to use personally before the game was shipped out to me, or some idiot is using a keygen that coincidentally created the same key as me.

Is there any way to fix this, or apply for a new CD key?

Answer: Keygen, and there isn't anything you can do about it.

You could try and send it back to amazon and tell them the disk has issues and that you would like a replacement. They may tell you to ship the whole thing back which would give you a new key.

Other than that, not much you could do.

Crap...are you sure I can't apply for a new one with Vivendi/Sierra?

I am DEFINITELY not sending it back to Amazon, since there's no telling if or when I'll get it back, and I'm not sure how deep this goes; fortunately, I paid for the thing with a money gram, so the ***holes don't have an account number.

Ah well. I'm able to log online with it, just not always; I spent about 15 minutes this afternoon trying to get online before the duplicate logged off.

Try contacting sierra with proof of purchase and let them know what the issue is ... They may take pitty and give you a new number.

Well one thing to bypass is if you still have your key, you could easily use Xfire or Gamespy to find games and join. It works the same as the mp menu for avp2, except the fact that you get botted off or can't log in.

Whether you use xfire or not doesn't make a difference. The cdchecker will spot the cdkey ( both) in use and boot one.

[editedby=Merrick] Deleted post as it trumps the eula of the game and provides a way around security features associated with game. [/editedby] Lol I do this all the time.

hmm interesting... that's good. so here is something for you.... Providing ways around the games eula can get you banned from these forums. Consider this a warning.
