Unfortunatly buddy, I had the same problem some year or two. However. Theres good news and bad news to all this. GOOD NEWS: Theres a cheat available on the internet which all you need to do is copy and paste into your autoexec.cfg file which is located in the main directory of whereever you installed your avp2 game. Opening it with notepad is definetly your best bet. Thats all you need; a text program. Word doesn't like it, stay away. Getting back to the point, from here scroll down to the very bottom where you have stuff like..."##keyboard" "##36" 0.000000 0.000000" so on and so forth. Hit enter to make a fresh line and copy THIS into that line; rangebind "##keyboard" "##36" 0.000000 0.000000 "ChaseView" Now when you hit 'J' I think it is hey presto your warped outside your character and you can use this 'cheat' (I say that loosely) online as well coz its in your program perameters and all that jargon. I think when you use 'mpicu' cheat it bugs the characters animations for some reason; but hit J & your having third person fun, which works surprisingly well...if you hold down J you can spin the camera 360* around your player model allowing you to view the action from any angle, this allows cool screenshots and other stuff like that :) be aware though that your HUD (health, ammo and all that) will completely disappear until you hit J again to return to classic first person mode. BAD NEWS: If your using Windows:Vista, forget about all this, it wont allow you to edit the file at all....you can view it and think its all good butwhenyou add the command line perameter and go to SAVE (which you must do by the way, it wont let you and say something about it already existing or protected or some crap, I used to use it all the time with Windows ME, It works with XP as well so my friends told me, but any other form of windows or OperatingSystem in general is either a gamble or a straight miss. Hope I helped you out buddy! Take Care.

Then unfotunatly it hasn't worked at all & your damn lucky by the way; I did the same thing as you in my desperate attempt to get that third person cheat (by saving and replacing via the desktop) but when I did avp2 had a fit and every time I re-entered my game it wiped my control configuration & I couldn't reset it coz it kept formatting everytime I clicked ok to set my controls. Unfortunatly again, Vista is just 'to' up to date for a game of this calibre & as I'm sure you know being a Vista user, its barely compatible with any old software ;) I think your gonna have to face the music on this one and accept that it wont work. Honestly. I was posting the same threads as you when I got Vista and wanted that command line to work. After about a solid week of researching possible methods on the internet it boiled down to Vista simply not allowing you to rewrite the codes of the game. I think part of the problem is that Vista itself is so over protective of everything you do & fair play to microsoft for building the single most stable form of windows I ever worked with, but ultimatly; using Vista & such a secure OS comes at the price of compatibility :( Theres really nothing more I can say, if Vista allowed the action your trying to achieve it would go ahead and work, but if you want that command line your gonna have to go back to your old OS (If you have one*) The only other thing I'll say is that did you copy that line perfectly into the other rangebinds making sure it was formatted in the same text and style as all the others, as in #rangebind#blahblah=#46 and whatever I cant remember if you hav to put the little " " quote marks there on both ends either? but seeing as your monkeying around with the directory and all its files I think its safe to assume you've done it right & know what your doing anyway. If you do ever get it to work though.....let me know : D theres cake in it for you of you do!
