Hello all, I got this wierd problem with my AvP2 game. When I press the 'V' button in game as an alien to switch to invert view, the screen turns black as if my alien chose to close his eyes in the middle of a fight. Which clearly isn't helping. I read somwhere that this has been a problem with other people in the past and was wondering if anyone can drop me a useful line which isn't "Chuck it out the window." I'm using Windows Vista and AvP2 is running at its very highest possible performance. HD as well :p so why should I be having this problem? Thanks for your time.

hmmmmm HMMMMMMMMMMMMM I believe that vista has nothing to do with, what kind of graphics card are you using ? another thing are you maps fully made ? like for instance this problem would occur if starlight views weren't added. IF you're playing monlith maps then this shouldn't be the case unless you're using mpmorph to morph into an alien in the mairne campaign o....

Uhh..I'm not big on the whole spec thing but I do know I'm using an Intel Centrino Duo core processor. This is a problem for both single and multiplayer. Anyway, OpenGL with a 128mb graphic card. Not a super duper graphic card unlike todays standards. Mite wanna mention I'm using a Laptop and uhh....well this is a damn good one both in performance and in graphics. For a Laptop it kicks out more than its fair share. It's damn annoying. I blame Vista. I was using a 11mb graphic card with intel pentium 2 and windows ME before this and that never fucked up. Ok I couldn't play in high res but oh well. Least it worked. So please help me out!!! I'm still looking for answers but I'm finding nothing.

And why couldn't this be a vista anomaly ?

You have to understand, new os platform, new problems with older games. Try running some of your win98 games on xp, or even try vista now. I would try a video driver swap and see what happens. Not always do the newest vid drivers work for older games.

I appreciate the help guys so ultimately what then? I'm fucked unless I get a downgraded laptop. Coz that wont happen. I luv AvP2. But seriously, newer cards; better, older games. Read that Microsoft. Idiots. I still refuse that my alien is stuck with not looking invert. It's just ridiculous.

Below DX10 cards? This game has been out long before dx10 m8...

Try loading an older set of drivers. See what that does for now and let us know.

yeah ok. i say vista's not causing a problem because I play avp2 and a bunch of other krap on my vista labtop too, sucks for playing but does good display for a labtop// It could be vista but I think it's more like the graphics or the monitor, because those usually cause those types of problems with whatever vision mode thing he speak on. ATI cards tend to cause some visual adnomalites... the only game that I am having trouble with playing on vista is DOOM, but I don't care enough to look further into the problem yet.

Your hardware is not his hardware. Vista has had issues interacting with different pieces of hardware so you really can't say that ... I can put vista on three of the 5 pcs here and it works fine ( to some extent, the lower processors don't like arro ), but on two of them, it doesn't like it one bit.

Don't get me wrong , i very well could be wrong, but it is somewhere to start.

Well I'm using the direct X that came wih it which is 8 I believe. But it still blows up. and yeah its the alien vision I'm having trouble with and Predtech vision which r both the same thing really. BUT I heard MAC has the same problem and they hav a download on MACPlay, So I'm gonna check that out. I know its MAC OS only. But Vista is just a snazzy version of it made by windows. It's a long shot but I'm gonna try. Thanks for all your input guys. Appreciate it!
