June 6, 2004 will be the 60th Anniversary of Operation Overlord (D-Day). In honor of this historic event, and those who sacrificed on that day, the Devils Mercenary Brigade will be holding a special event!

Join the Devils Mercenary Brigade in remembering the sacrifice made for the greater good by those young men 60 years ago.

The DMB's Server #1 (205.177.13.104) will be running ONLY Omaha Beach for 24 hours.

The DMB's Server #2 (205.177.13.105) will be running only Normandy maps for 24 hours.

0630 GMT is the time that the first landing craft hit the shores on Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. To commemorate the great sacrifice that so many made that summer day 60 years ago, our servers will be running only the following maps for a full 24 hours starting at 0630 GMT on June 6th, 2004:

Server #1 IP: 205.177.13.104 Omaha Beach (Standard BF42 map) Server #2 IP: 205.177.13.105 Will be running the following maps:

To download any of the maps (Except Omaha Beach which is standard BF42) simply click on the name in the listing above. You will need to install these maps into:

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Archives\bf1942\levels

Longest Day - Omaha Beach and Normandy

Are Road to Rome maps and need to go into:

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\XPack1\Archives\Bf1942\Levels

Make sure to install the .rfa and NOT a .zip or .rar file. You will need a compression agent like Winzip to extract the .rfa file from a .zip archive and Winrar to extract the .rfa file from a .rar archive.

Sorry people it seems that Gold Beach and Pegasus Bridge are crashing to desktop. So you will NOT see those 2 maps in the rotation.

Operation Overlord, Status Report

The latest intel on the status of Operation Overlord has just come in off the telegraph. Overlord is scheduled for the morning high tide on June 5th. The latest radar reports indicate that the weather will most likely will be a violent storm, bringing with it six to eight foot swells and heavy rains. Chances are that the operation will need to be delayed. Stand down but be ready to go at a moments notice. Below is a photo of the overcast beach and Sea Wall that some of you will be tasked with scaling.

Operation Overlord has just been officially postponed until the morning tide on June 6. The weather is too harsh to allow the channel crossing any earlier. June 6th will be the last window of opportunity this month to capitalize on an early morning high tide as well as a full moon. Intel reports indicate that the defenses are very solid on the beaches, with large strecthes of open killing fields. Here is a photo of Utah Beach. Note the barbed wire and anti-vehicle obstacles.

Utah1.jpgOmaha beach, notice the wide beach and lack of cover. Speed will be a key to securing this location.
