Shouldn't be a problem. I have set it up on a number of computers, some that play network games and etc and they worked fine, it will screw up some software (M$ has a list on their website of games it is known to affect and BF isn't listed). Third party firewalls and AV software are a known issue and most of those should be releasing patches to fix the problems (just un-install the firewall).

Seeing as you have a Athlon XP, DEP (Data Execution Prevention) shouldn't cause any problems, however ppl with newer computers based on Athlon64 CPU's and, later this year, P4's when they come out with 64bit CPU's, may have probelms and might need to set BF as an exception in the DEP control panel.

Edit: here is the list

Keep in mind that Unreal Tournament 2003 and Unreal Tournament GOTY edition are both affected, so if you run these be wary.

Oh yes, and while I am here, there are some programs that will still work but with "a loss of functionality" (whatever that is supposed to mean - M$ speak for "we will only partly break it" I guess) here;

I still wonder though how this can be classed as a loss of functionality

Norman Personal Firewall Assistant will not start.

:rolleyes:
