I have to say that i love this game. The mods certainly keep it alive. Without the mods i doubt this game would be as sucessful as it is. But i know some people which wont be able to run/afford BF2. So how many people do you guys think would be left in BF1942? There currently around 2500 servers, i would not be suprised to see that drop to 1700 around 1-2 months after BF2 has been released. BTW heres my system. P4 2.4 GHZ 512 mb RAM ATI radeon 9000 128mb Will i be able to run it on minimum settings? Thanks guys.

I exepct BF1942 to still be around for awhile. Some of the mods will need a few months to get ported to BF2 so it depends.

I think you are going to see higher than 50% of BF1942 servers disappear.

Unlikley. The min required vid card for BF in the Radeon family is a 9600, however until somone actually tries it I suppose we can't be 100% certain, but if it does work it will probably be unplayable. I don't believe the 9000 supports shader 1.4 which is a requirement.

if you buy a 9800pro and got your self another 512MB of RAM youd be able to play it on medium.

I feel bf1942 will do fine after. The unnecessary high req. of bf2, due to 1.4 shader mostly, will keep alot of ppl, like me away from it. Why the hell shouldi buy a new vidcard for 300 dollars to play one game when i know its price and worth having-ness will drop quickly. Might as well jujst buy a new console for the price. Besides CSS, new DoD, new fortress for HL2 will hold me over for next UT and Q4, and i will have to upgrade no matter what to a new vicard at that time whether i get a new one now or not. Don't fret, wanna get a cheap vidcard off newegg, do it. I'd rather invest in a new driver for my golf clubs or a new ipod personally. =/ ...or buy 10,000 eggs for my plan to take over Toledo...mwahaha.

Yea, BF1942 will always be in my heart. Its like not wanting to watch Star Wars: A New Hope because Episode 3 came out. While the first 3 dont look anywhere near as impressive graphically, they will always be watched because they are the beginning of the saga.

I do hope they come out with a 1942 mod like they did with BF:V though. I think it would be sweet to assault Omaha Beach with the BF2 engine(Not sure what the engine is called)

There is going to be a "PointofExistence" mod for BF2 just like the mod for BFV. Just go to www.pointofexistence.com for the info.
