Alright, I've been looking for a new graphicscard for a while now... I cut all the ineeresting ones down to an Nvidia GeForce 7800GTX and GT... Which one should I choose? There's quite a big difference on the price, but it's not that big on teh cards themselves... I just want one that can run bf2 smoothly... And when I say smoothly, I mean real SMOOTHLY! :p And it'd be pretty dumb to get the gt if it can't run bf as good as the gtx... :uhm:

Thanks :bows:

the 7800gt will, providing u have 1gb of Ram and a cpu tht wont bottlenek, run BF2 will all settings on full with no or minimal lag (by that i mean a slight bit at the start of a game etc). The 7800gtx will run it slightly better (higher fps) but u wont notice it really. But in the future it cud be handy, but then if u motherboard is sli redy future proofing is not a problem

oh and ffs make sure u have a gud cooling otherwise it doesnt matter how gud the grphix card is, it will peform badly

What are the rest of your specs? Since 7800 gtx on a 3200+ 512meg will be slow.

On 1280*1024 I play with every thing on high and 4x anti aliasing with a 3700+ @ 2.5, 2 gig, and a 7800gt @ 450, 1050 and everything is fine

If I take out 1 gig I lag and jump.

So I say make sure you have 2 gig. A 7800GTX is better, but its not $150 better. Consider a x1800xl, its better than a gt, but cheaper than a gtx.

try googling VGA Charts VIII tomshardware and you get a nice set of graphs :)

My specs are: XP home edit, SP2 Pentium 4 processor, 3.2ghz 1gig ram (getting another 1gig) Ati Radeon x600 pro (whatever that's useful for)

Enough?

I would go with the GT. I am a Nvidia fan myself though.

I run Duel 6800's and 2 Gigs of Ram My Processor is not the greatest but, I run BF2 on ultra high and every thing is smooth smooth smooth.

Did not read your cooling question.

If you use a Nvidia its right in the Display settings and will tell you the Card Temp and the Ambient Temp. Thats another reason why I like it. However I dont have much experience with ATI so they probably have it also, but im guessing.

Buy another gig and 7800gt or x1800xl depending on what bundles and prices you can get. x1800xl is slightly better than gt, but not much in it.

7900 are just around the corner and gtx prices are going to drop soon, gt prices have dropped and so have x1800xl

This is assuming you are playing on a 1280*1024, normal tft res, since anything higher and you really want more.
