Obviously this isnt going to happen, and i am not pushing DICE to do this BUT..

What if points never did exist for this game.... would it improve the game?

You would think, Naw, points are just there to show how you are doing, but.. link them to specific events..

Here is a good one, Medics.. So many of them... Everywhere.. throwing medpacks everywhere.. Why? because they want points..

Rare teamplay, Squads barely exist now.. everyone keeps running off trying to get some serious points by destroying what they can before someone else does..

Now a big one is Bragging, because a new person arrives, people tend to brag a lot about their points... someone did to me when i first played, i owned them quite a few times, laughed then said "instead of bragging, dont say a word.. and try to enjoy the game without having to gloat.."

Points damage a game... because people start to forget about the fun gameplay and try to suck in as many points as possible.. its insane..

This is what i believe, others may differ, and no, i am not saying this because i have low points lol..

But if you can, throw in some opinions :)

Yeah points do kinda take away from the teamplay but everybody wants points. What they could do is just not show you your points until AFTER the round is over? that would be different and kinda solve a bit of the problem maybe

i think Dice's idea for this ranking system was good, but it required a minimum of IQ from the players to know how it works properly, which, unfortunately, the players dont seem to have... if only one of them ever saw teamplay (i once did, ONCE IN A YEAR OF GAMEPLAY!)they would have noticed that playing as a team grants at least regular lonerscore TIMES 3...(+ adds an enormous(really, huge) amount of fun) if only they would have seen...

I think the ranking system works well... points system fault is in the unlocks. That is the main reason IMO that the point system takes away from the gameplay. When I first started to play BF2, I was trying to just do straight forward teamplay. The only problem was that people who had been playing longer than me, had weapons unlocked that gave them an advantage. I know you can say that "No it was because you were new to the game, and not as skilled as the people who were playing before you."... but that is not entirely true... some of the unlockable weapons have a clear advantage over the start-up ones. This of course forced me to focus on earning more points. Since I unlocked some weapons... I have found some that work better for me. I have since returned to focusing on gameplay/teamwork. I think the game would have been better, if they didn't have locked weapons... and had the point system go strictly to ranking.

points are fine in my opinion. In any game u get a bunch of peeps who r freaks, sado, nerds (just a word for description no offense intended) Who play for points only and nvr leave their computer screen. This happens in every game. The solution is to distance yourself frm these boring people who make bf2 boring. Join a good clan, get ure m8s into bf2 (or wotever), find some cool peeps on a regular server to play with etcetc. When you play with m8s who play for fun games get more intense, interesting and fun! At least that how i play. Points for me is just a little extra thing to help let me know if my tactics are any good etc.
