Does anyone know of any ways to speed up having your client data verified? I only ask becuase it only takes me about a minute to a minute and a half at most to actually load the map, however when it comes to verifing my client data it can take from 2-4 minutes sometimes. I know its not the best processor for gaming but I have a Celeron D 3.06 ghz, 2 gb of ram, and a GeForce 6600.
3.6ghz! ABd you say thats not a good proccessor! Mines 2.8ghz, but no you cant speed it up, its gamespy just verifying thats its you using your username and password ect... But i dont know why it has to do it every time you load a new map, thats just BS
there is a way but you need to mess with registry so its risky if done wrong but will give you better performance over all. But if you have a newer intel processor there gay cause the registry is locked so AMD is the way to go to get the mostout of your computer.
So should I just take that as a no to my inquiry then?
Maybe, yes. It's a no to your inquiry. ;)
.... unless The#1Spot tells us how to modify the registry or sends us a link to instructions.
But like The#1Spot says, modifying your registry is risky. I just wait for the client validation.
Maybe it revalidates at each map change because there are hacks that can be done to maps or texture files (and such) that are cheats. Or, maybe it's a copy protection security measure for hacks that bypass first run checks.
Well then 1spot.... lay it on me brother. I can't take this waiting anymore. I've spent around $1200 to play this game on my PC and I really don't want to put up with this anymore. Another unrelated thing, when the game auto-detects my settings it has everything set to high-medium. However the game gets extremely choppy like this for some reason so I reset everything to low. The problem comes when I join a server, sometimes at random, it will re-optimize my shaders and turn all my settings back to to medium and high. Is there anyway to stop the game from doing that?
Well seeing you have 2 gigs of ram, and what brand is it thats important. And yes that processor is probly the caulpret. As celeron isn't really a gaming processor. Adding more ram will speed up your loading times. But 2 gigs should be enough as I run 1 gig ram and verify client in 30 secs. And as for your video settings resetting it might be that when you are changing a video setting you might not be saving it as well. Just a thought. I will look into this further as I've not heard this one yet. But go to www.tweakguides.com for more info on optimizing BF2 and your computer. A lot of info there for anyone to read and you'll find something that will help you.
I'm not sure on the brand of RAM I have, I'll have to dig out some recipts for those later on. As for the processor, I knew when I got it it wasn't the best for gaming but I couldn't afford a P4 and that seemed decent enough. What bothers me is BF2 is the only game that gives me these kinds of problems. I get smooth gameplay with everything on high with games like FEAR, HL2, CoD2, and Quake 4. As for my video settings and saving them, I know I do. I don't really change them that often. What happens with the shaders just happens at random sometimes in between loading maps.
ok sorry about the wait heres the link mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/OptimizeXP.html#Tweaks great site you can change many settings and will notice a difference and a majority are it the my computer that you can change.
i saw about a 10-15% performance increase with the seting changes stillsmokin is your card agp or pcie
