That's a thread, this is a poll ;) And my answer is: hell no. I bought BF2 for the engine, not the contents. Only reason for this are the mods, like FH2. Why would i pay anything extra, for some measly 7 maps, when i can get FH2 with 40+ maps, and much more contents then any of those expacks? Nightvision? Grapling hook? Night maps? It's all done on the BF2 engine, so that means the mods can easily do it, and way better too

To be honest, the night time thing and night vision..looks like this is turning into Ghost Recon or Raven Sheild or even America's Army. Its being to sneaky and looking like EA just wants more cash so y not copy Ghost Recon or Raven Sheild.

I won't be getting it. Sounds like they are adding almost nothing that can't be done in a mod. Seemed like the entire article only spoke about grappling hooks and ziplines, two things not worth thirty dollars or so. Not a lot of new content, and who knows how bugged it will be. If it's coming out in the fall it must be almost done, yet they haven't even fixed the problems with BF2.

What's even worse is that EA promised a lot of those features for the original BF2. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so damn annoying.

I know I'm not getting it. I prefer my all-out warfare, not some sneaky little Special Ops game. That's what mods are for, not whole expansions.

EDIT: EUREKA!!! I've had an inspiration! This is why they haven't released the SDK/Mod tools yet! They didn't want some amateur with a LOT more skill taking their idea for an EXPANSION before they announched it! Now that they've announced it they don't have to worry (so much) about some kid with some time taking the idea.

First thing is the fact that you would have had to know the code is there to do it. of which it may not be unless you get the pack. It maybe be able to be done on the engine but it may have to have the code added. In which case, you would have to be able to do more than modding. you would have to know more about coding the engine itself. Here is a damn good point. Why pay 30 bucks for a " mod " ? That is all it is going to be. A coded mod. adding in three functions and some maps. You will get all that when they release the tools. why even bother purchasing what you will UNDOUBTABLY get from the modding community.

Well, this is how all bf expansions have been. Just more maps and weapons... This will be different than just some mod b/c you will be able to unlock new weapons with the expansion and not with a mod. Also gain rank if you care about that. Plus the expansion only cost $30 and that isnt too bad. Also bf sw had a jetpack that no one ever modded into the game. I dont think these features will be easy to add just with a mod b/c you can only mod what ea lets you...

Yeah, only anyone could use the "jetpack" without the actual jetpack, aka. the superman exploit  There wasn't a single mod that need something as stupid as a personal jetpack. You can mod whatever you want. One of the DC-based mods (DCX was it?) modded working heat-seaking missiles that actually worked like RL missiles - they attempted to intercept the target (unlike BF2 missiles just just dumbly follow) And the Empires mod actually had a working Commander interface! The commander could look around the map, send orders to his team, and build stuff, as well as spot for the artillery. As a matter of fact, there is nothing in BF2 (gameplay wise, i am not talking about the graphics) that wasn't done in the mods. The only thing that the mod didn't/couldn't do was changing the score-system, and squads.
