Guys I had a 9800 pro which ran the game.I figured with all the new tech in this game better upgrade a bit ,so I bought a X800XL which wasn't really much of an upgrade besides the 256 meg ram instead of the 128 in the 9800. I find I still have all the same settings as far as detail goes. I am now gonna get rid of this and get the 6800GT 256 meg card. I am still AGP . Do you think the 6800 will be the upgrade I am looking for??? Please let me know what you think before I waste more money...

I've heard good things about Nvidia and this game, and that's one top of the line card.

I can speak from experience NO I have a 6800GT and I say stick with ATI. Your right this card does have all better specs but there is something wrong with it and BF2 so its just going to act up on you. I suggest save up for a 7800 GTX and a PCI-E Mobo.

Don't pay attention to what anyone says, nVidia cards are not all wacked out, I have a FX 5200 (which is supposedly not supported, according to the little list Dice/EA supplied of supported cards), and it works fine, the only lag I get is usually Internet lag, caused by high ping (usually).

I have a 6800gt in AGP, its nice but you need a monster processor and good ram to run it without any bottleneck( something like a +3500 and 1gb of low latancy Pc3200) Unless you play doom 3, stick with your x800xlsmilie.gif.

My ASUS 9800Pro 256MB works great at high quality settings. :thumbsup: I don't know about NVIDIA stuff, but since they have some advertising agreement for BF2 :deal: I guess it's implied it might be better. :rolleyes:

Hmm, something wrong there, the X800XL (sure the lower performing X800 model) should still kick the 9800 sideways. The X800XL should give you performance on par with a 6600GT at least. Here, have a look at this;

http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20050705/vga-charts-pcie-09.html

It shows the X800XL getting TWICE the FPS as the 9800PRO, so you should be getting either twice the FPS or be able to put your settings up much higher and get the same FPS, so there is some issue other than the card, maybe drivers causing conflict? I suggest un-installing vid card drivers, deleting any trace of them from the HDD and registry and re-installing the lot.

Spending money to replace what to many ppl here is a just a dream replacement for their old FX5200, Radeon 9200 seems a waste until other avenues have been checked. Besides, getting another AGP card now is pointless, the Nvidia 7800GTX isn't being released as AGP at all, so next gen vid card upgrade is going to make it obsolete pretty quickly anyway.
