The commander was a great idea, sadly it is not used well by all the idiots that play. When the little kids are online all they do is call votes to kick the commander off. Otherwise the commander just sits there and does nothing. I have only seen 2 games so far where there was a commander who actively gave commands and was competant.

I for one enjoy being a commander (You can practice it in Single Person btw). The biggest problem I have run into is people joining squads but not doing anything with orders. On a full 64 player server as MEC I had about 3 squads, 1 full that knew what they were doing and had a decent assault mix out (And the knew how to request supplies and UARV flyovers). The other 2 squads were one man or two man. No biggy but they were BOTH snipers and refused to move to different locations even when there were no enemy within a mile of them and I wanted them in position to overlook a defenseless flag. The only thing I can say is that both sides need more engineer players and preferably have those guys make a squad. 'Mine Here' 'Repair Here' are the two most underused but valuable commands in a Commander's arsenal and there is no one to use them on. Oh yeah, as a Commander you can take Engineer for the most fun repairing your own crap or Medic/Anti-Armor when they start assaulting your base.
