This is to all those blaming EA/Dice for releasing a crappy patch without doing proper QA on it. They have never officially released the patch. Just go through your history, or find the news archive of your favourite BF2 website... absolutely all links lead to http://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/downloads.jsp Note, this is just a download section of the website! It is not the "news" section, it is not even a "community update" section. When i heard the news of the patch (weeks ago), i went over to the EA website, but could not find any reference to it anywhere, besides the actual file in the downloads section. No "news" mention of it, no "community update" about it either Now, since when would a company publishing a multiplayer game just put a patch in the download's section and not say a word about it? The only explanation for this is that someone screwed up, and accidently put a not-for-distribution file on the public website, a file that was not meant to be released just yet. You know, even Dice was on holidays at that time... But of course, one community website picked it up, minutes later every community website had a link to the file, and when EA realised what's happening, it was too late, and they had no option but to follow suit and upgrade their server to "cover up" the mistake of the one who accidently put the file on the internet.

Well, I'm OK with EA anyways. Their not bad, or evil, they make mistakes like us. But sometimes they do stuff on purpose....

The news was on their site and it wasn't "weeks ago". It was more like last week. They've since removed the news pertaining to the patch since it was bugged.

Ea is lazy, or they have removed it. Notice how they never update their Medal Of Honor Pacific Assualt page? its been the same for me since the day of the demo.

I am sure they would have removed it now, had they had it there in the first place. But as i said, on the day that all the community sites were broadcasting "woot, patch it out, download here", EA never had an announcement or even an update that the patch is out. Simply a link to the file in the downloads section

Didn't EA have a community update about a 1.01 patch before it was released? I seem to remember posting on a sticky that there was news on EA's website. But, even if you're correct Hydra, EA either needed to say it was not official right off the bat or they have to accept is as official. If they don't deny it then they must accept it because they can't just not take any responsibility. They have their name slapped all over the box which means they inherit responsibility. It really doesn't matter if it was a screw up or not.

Which is the same thing as them releasing it. Them hosting it on their public servers combined with an email from them asking us to host it = EA releasing the patch.

Yes Big daddy ...you are correct ..... with them putting it up on their public servers and asking Filefront to host it, that is them Officially releasing it. The first thing to be taken down by Ea when they figured out what was going on, was the links to it.
