Hey guys. I'm not too sure weather or not these problems are due to the game being a demo or not but i'm having some large, rather annoying problems while playing battlefield 2. Just to give you an idea of the 1337ness of my rig, heres the specs... By the way it can handle ANYTHING I throw at it IE: HL2 and Farcry on full settings. *AMD 64, 3500+ CPU *ASUS A8V Deluxe MOBO *2gig Geil PC3200 Ram *Radeon X800 XT - 256 Meg *550 Watt X-Connect PSU *Windows XP - Pro *Seagate 200gig HDD. Ok, so I have just built this computer recently. I can cruise through HL2 and Farcry on FULL settings and my FPS will NEVER drop below 50. While playing the battlefield 2 demo, it was perfect for the first day or two on full settings, no system lagg at all. Just recently though, the map and some of the textures/models have been going all "Warped" or "Spliced" with big patches of black shadow. I can't understand this? I have tried turning my graphics down, but it won't let me adjust them, well it does, but it just doesn't stay adjusted! Whats up with this guys? I'll try posting a screenshot later on. Cheers guys, Nik.

I got the same thing. I played a bot match and the bots have huge blobs of shadows around them. It also killed my FPS, I get around 25 with full settings with no AA at 1024x768. I got a 6800gt.

Yeah I have no idea what causes it. It definatly aint over heating. I have water cooling and my CPU temp never goes above 30 celcius. Also I have excelent airflow through my case.

I hear the new ATI 5.6 driver causes some problems with the demo graphics. Did you update to them recently? If so, try using an older driver.

As far as the Nvidia card, did the game work for awhile like the first post, then mysteriously degrade graphically as well?

btw - Can't really compare BF2 performance with other games. Apples and Oranges.

There's some sort of problem with the dynamic shadows, apparantly it's driver related so I hope it will be all sorted for full release, but in the meantime try playing with the shadow settings.

I have my Dynamic Shadows turned OFF. I had big blocks for player and vehicle shadows, also. Just turn em off. Game looks great with the other stuff on. You'll hardly notice a difference

Hey guys. Well I got a screen shot for yas' of the horrible shadow problems im having. Also the game f**king crashes every so often for NO reason at all. It pisses me off so much! Its got no reason to! It doesn't even have an error message. Also sometime the game will crash and says "Please set to 1600 x 1200 @ 60hz". Its already on the fricken resolution!

The other MAJOR problem I have is that I try to change my graphical settings. I do so, it asks me to restart the game but the fucker hasn't saved my settings! I can't change any of my settings at all because it never lets me keep them that way! GRRRR!

turn shadow OFF. Don't adjust res. I use Cat.5.6 drivers without probs. Adjusting gfx will occur only after you quit the game entirely then start it up again.....just in case you were in a hurry and didn't do so Then, in the end, get a haircut - it'll make your day

I found that the demo is dissoriented with its new surroundings. Show that you have support for the demo, and it will support you back. It is in a new environment, on hard drives where there are other games. It used to live by itself on a super pc owned by EA, but now, it is on our shitty pcs with big boys like Counterstrike and Quake. Tell him it will be ok, and with time he will be accepted. Its just his newfound glory that intimidates the other games, forcing them to pick on it. It is special, and be sure it knows it.
