OK I have a fast sytem (xp-m oc'd to 2.5Ghz, 6600gt oc'd to 550/1200, 2xraptor in raid0, 1gig BH-5 2-2-2-11 @ 227fsbx11)...

YET, I can't play on high textures...

everything else is maxed out, and even I have 16x AF enabled through the Nvidia driver page...

but high textures is a killer.. does it really require 2gig ram to run high textures?

thanks!

No it requires a better vid card, the 6600 GT is really only a mid range card for BF2. if you want textures up high turn down AA or get at least a 6800GT.

I have them set at medium on my 68gt (only a p4 2.6 HT though). You tend to get a fair few pauses with it set at high. Not really much difference though. Saw a post on here once showing the diffs and to be honest, nothing worth worrying about. Same goes for dyanmic lights as well and shadows. I might try them a bit higher in stages. All I know is at full everything it wasnt that clever so I dropped the above 3 settings and it's now perfect. Slim

Thought you needed video memory not RAM for textures. 256 apparently is sufficient.
