well youhave some pretty good hardware selected there man. Your card is top notch. As is your processor. Dont go with value select ram though...research timings. Go to newegg and check out a 2 gig dual channel kit from OCZ it is made for overclocking..not that you need to, but its good to know that its made for performance. You can buy 533mhz memory and set it at that speed in your bios...its stil the 184 pin memory.
if you have that good of a system I would get a creative x-fi...the reason being is because even the less expensive ones will do 128 voices.....all audigy cards will only do 64...unless the audigy4 does 128 Youll probly want a bigger hard drive. 80 gigs wont last long trust me. youd be happy with 120 gig. from. but if you can reuse anyof your old parts if there not ancient...maybe your old hard drive and just keep backup info on it. actaully now that I look at it....I would not get the gt..go with an x850 because that will last a little longer. the radeon x850xt benchmarks almost as good as the new x1800xt but better than the x1800xl.
although, damn Id hate to keep posting, but if I were you..I would make sure the card you buy supports shader 3.0 and you would be styling. Seriously. And I think that only the 7800 and the x1800 support shader 3.0 I guess youdd have to check your budget, but id wait another week to afford one of those two cards......those would be the best choice besides the x850.....youd be set for afew years.......trust me ive been boggling my mind so hard about these vid cards=.........because im in the market soon to get one too...
deftond if you dont mind, heres my email address email@example.com. email me around Jan-feb 06 too help me deside. Later
No, Geforce 6200 supports shaders 3.0 Its not exclusive to 7800
All the 6000 and 7000 series Nvidia vid card support shader model 3, the ATI X1000 series supports shader model, the previous series didn't (X850, X700 and etc) so any Nvidia 6000 or 7000 or nay ATI X1000 series is good.
