this game has an incredible need for resources . While vid cards are a necessity, if you can not "run" the game smoothly do to lack of resources, you may as well not be playing it... it is the old " bottleneck " issue as always.
Ah. I knew RAM was needed for games, but I was under the assumption that it was only used for actual loading screens, and the video card did the rest. I guess I just didn't realize HOW important it was in games on the graphical level. I guess I will upgrade my RAM as well. Maybe Oblivion will run more smoothly with all the eye candy turned on then, instead of stuttering. I was thinking that Oblivion was such a great game that even the newest card couldn't handle it.
The less ram you have in your system the more it will stumble along .... I was running morrowind on a 9500 pro 128 with everything turned on with 512 ... the moment i went to a gig it smoothed out even more. It isn't just down to the video card anylonger. Although that is where most of the stress comes down to. There are many components needed to run the games now. Even the power supply is a GREAT necessity to have.
